In the bustling streets of urban slums and the forgotten corners of rural villages, hunger is not just a passing feeling — it is a harsh reality that thousands live with every day. At Shri Harivansh Foundation, we believe that something as simple as a warm meal can spark hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
Last winter, during one of our community kitchen drives in a remote village in Maharashtra, we met Meera — a single mother of two who had lost her husband during the pandemic. With no stable income, she struggled daily to provide even one meal for her children. Meera’s eyes welled up with tears as she watched her kids eat a hot meal served by our volunteers — rice, dal, and some vegetables — a rarity in their home for months.
That one meal was more than food; it was a reminder that they were not alone.
Since then, Meera has been part of our community kitchen program, and her children are now enrolled in our school sponsorship initiative. Our team is also helping her acquire skills to start a home-based tailoring business.
This story is just one among hundreds. Through your donations and support, we’ve served over 20,000 meals in the past year, helping families like Meera’s breathe a little easier.
Hunger may be a global issue, but hope begins locally.
Join us — and let your generosity be the reason someone sleeps with a full stomach tonight.
